TERRITORY

Krasny Luch is situated in the Southern part of the Luhansk region.

Total area -153,6 sq. km.

23 settlements and Petrovske town are subordinate to Krasny Luch as a district centre.

Population -154,000 people.

Krasny Luch is 62 km from Lugansk, 40 km by road and 30 km by rail - from Customs office; 200 km - from the nearest seaport of Mariupol', 50 km - from Debaltsevo – a major railway junction; 110 km - from Donetsk International Airport.

Road network is 628 km long. It links the town with Kharkov, Donetsk, Rostov.

Main deposits - high quality power-generating coal with heating value of 7,000-8,000 Kal. Total reserves run into 179 m. tons.

ECONOMY

Town's industrial potential is represented by 44 major and 263 small companies. Industry's stake in GDP is 95,6 per cent. In terms of production output 49,3 % fall to coal mining, 28 % - to machine building industries.

The biggest company is "Donbasantratsit" Holding Co. ( with 8 incorporated mines); "Kransy Luch" plant, "Standard" plant; Chemical plant named after Petrovsky; "ZBV No 7" plant (assembled reinforced concrete plates), Bread-baking plant and District Slaughter House with Refrigerators.

Total Production output in 1999 amounted to 312,7 m. UAH. The companies maintain economic links with 25 countries of the world. The most important export items are searching acoustic stations, navigation hydro acoustic equipment, chemicals.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Total residential area is 3,018 sq. m. Medical care is provided through 10 hospitals with overall staff of 1,700 doctors and nurses, There are three health centres. Education system is represented by 37 secondary schools, 4 technical secondary schools, 6 vocational training schools and a branch of East Donbass Mining and Metallurgical University. Sports and leisure activities are organized in 2 local stadiums, 18 football fields, 100 sports playgrounds and 76 gyms. There is also a swimming pool and 15 shooting galleries.
