Lugansk region carries out the foreign trade operations with our partners almost from 123 countries of the world.

The basis of commodity structure of foreign trade in the region make not precious metals and products from them, mineral products, chemical production, and the industries connected with it, vehicles and the transport equipment, polymeric materials, plastic and rubber, mechanical and electric equipment.

Among districts of the region the greatest volumes of goods export make the cities of Alchevsk, Lisichansk, Lugansk, Severodonetsk and Stakhanov.

The greatest import receipts are carried out in the cities of Lisichansks, Alchevsk, Lugansk, and Rubezhnoye. The main trading partners of the region are the CIS countries (export makes about 33 % of all goods, import, - 86.5 %). Trading deliveries from the EU countries make about 6.5 %, export to these countries makes 26 % of the goods. The significant specific part of foreign trade activity of the region is the trade from the USA (import - 3 %, export – 10.5 %).

The volume of foreign trade in the goods during 2008 has made $ 10,367.1 million, the volume of export made $ 6,070 million, import - $ 4,297.1 million. The positive balance of foreign trade in the goods made $ 1,772.9 million.

In the first quarter of 2009 the export volume of goods and services made $ 403.9 million, import - $ 400.2 million.

The export volume of foreign trade services in the first quarter of 2009 has made $ 6,8 million, import - 13,4 million.

The total amount of the direct foreign investments brought in the region, on April 1, 2009 made $ 351.6 million, which makes $ 150.3 per person.

Investments have been brought from 39 countries of the world. More than half of the volume of direct investments belongs to investors from two countries: the United States America (35,9 %) and Cyprus (27,4 %), over 20 % of investments are from Hungary, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany.

Significant volumes of foreign investments are concentrated on the enterprises of the industry (60,7 % of total amount of direct investments in the region).

Volume of direct investments from the region into the economy of other countries of the world on April 1, 2009 made $ 1.6 million, including the CIS countries - $ 0.1 million (6.3 % from the total amount), to other countries of the world - $1.5 million (93.7 %).
